Sep 20 – Emotionally Health Joy & Things to Know

“Focus on the journey, not the destination. Joy is found not in finishing an activity but in doing it.”
-Greg Anderson
“The fact is always obvious much too late, but the most singular difference between happiness and joy is that happiness is a solid and joy is a liquid.”
-J.D. Salinger, Catcher in the Rye
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”
-James 1:2-4
What is the difference between happiness and joy? As we talk about Emotionally Healthy Character, what does it look like to show joy in our life? How do you define the happiness for yourself? How about joy? Process these ideas in the days ahead. And let us remember to love others this week.

MESSAGE ABOUT DIVE! (From Regina Mountjoy):

Eric from Growing Home asked me on Saturday if we had people who could commit to transporting food from Sprouts (77th and Wadsworth) to Growing Home on Tuesdays between 8-11:30am. He said it was often a fairly substantial amount and would need a truck and/or two vehicles and ability to lift lots of produce. Growing Home has a cargo van we could use if our car(s) aren’t big enough.

Would any of you be interested/available for this time? If so, could you let me know how often you would be willing to go (i.e. weekly/bi-monthly/monthly) and if you would prefer to go on your own or with a partner?

I would like to let him know ASAP if we can help out and get a team organized so we can start getting this food saved.

The Journey is TOGETHER–we journey together as a community, in loving, intimate, safe relationships with one another and God.  The Journey is HOLY–we seek to live a lifestyle of sacred, intimate love with God.  The Journey shows COMPASSION–we work together to bring good in the world by helping those Jesus described as “the least of these” and inviting people to join us in community.
