Paul was dealing with major issues in Ephesus surrounding unbridled boundaries around sexuality and alcohol. Some have interpreted Ephesians 5 as a list of rules. It is, instead, a reminder that we can live in a different way, where even things like drinking wine and having sex are viewed as spiritual and meaningful.
